Andrew is appealing for members of the congregation who would like to join the choir at St Mary’s. We are very grateful to all the ladies who do so much to support our weekly worship, and it would be good to have some more members – men would be particularly welcome! No previous singing experience or audition is required, just a willingness to help lead worship and have fun singing! And if you can put up with Andrew’s strange sense of humour even better! We rehearse at 11:30 on Thursday mornings but if we have new members who are busy during the day we could look to move rehearsal times.
We are delighted to announce that the Watoto Children’s Choir from Kampala in Uganda will be performing at St Mary’s on the evening of Wednesday 13 May. Through uplifting music, dance, and inspiring testimonies, this year’s production, Better Days, is a vibrant celebration of hope, joy, and the power of God to transform lives. The concert is free of charge and our part is to provide host home accommodation for the children and their accompanying adults, including 2 drivers and a choir master on the nights of 12th and 13th May. Most host homes will be required therefore to host 1 adult and 2 children. We urgently need to identify potential host homes, so if you are able to help with this, please speak with Phil or Caroline ASAP. Lent Lunches: We had 2 very successful lunches in aid in Christian Aid. Thanks to everyone involved, from soup makers to suppliers of bread and the willing helpers on the day, and, of course, thanks to everyone who came and supported us. They were lovely events and what is more, people were very generous. £448.10 was raised in cash, and further amounts given online with added Gift Aid. The total will be over £500 for the work of Christian Aid as part of their Easter appeal. THANK YOU. Janet Squire and the CA committee.
