1st Burley Brownies: The Brownies and the Hattersley family run the Bookmark Project, a charity auction of bookmarks created by authors, illustrators and celebrities. It starts on 6 May and you can bid here: www.jumblebee.co.uk/bookmarkproject2024 . All the money raised goes to support Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe. We need volunteers to help us pack up the bookmarks after the auction. If you can help for a few hours, a day or more, please speak to Annette at church, or email Sharon at slhattersley@gmail.com We will be packing bookmarks on Tuesday 28 May, Wednesday 29 May and possibly the rest of the week too!

Thy Kingdom Come: 9-19 May. We will join in with the international and interdenominational Thy Kingdom Come initiative in May.  Prayer Journals and Novena will be available soon.  Take a look at the website to be encouraged with what God is doing!  https://www.thykingdomcome.global/new-2024

Christian Aid Week starts on 12 May with the usual red envelopes available in church. The first event will be the Coffee Morning on 11 May 11o 11.30 at the Methodist Church with a variety of stalls, including Fairtrade. Please come and support us raise as much as we can at this time of great need in the world. Janet Squire, Christine Clark and the CA committee.

News of Dennis Warwick: The new owners and manager at Burley Hall, Warmest Welcome Ltd, have decided that they no longer want to care for Dennis at Burley Hall.  He has been a resident there for nearly three years.  This being the case, and with no other care homes available in Burley at the moment, his son and daughter-in-law have taken the difficult decision to move him nearer to them in Darlington.  The move is likely to happen in Mid-May.  If anyone was thinking of visiting Dennis at Burley Hall, then it would best to do this in the next month any day between 2 and 4.30pm.  Please be aware that Dennis’s dementia means that he does not retain information about names and will not remember anything about his impeding discharge or move, so please don’t distress him by discussing what might happen next.
